Jon Alston - Co-Executive Editor

I'm Jon Alston, and I'm the founder and Executive Editor for From Sac . The reason I wanted to start From Sac in 2013 is because I feel that Sacramento is one of the overlooked beauties in California. Although it's the State's Capitol, the true wonder and joy of this city is the arts (still very much hidden within the many neighborhoods that surround downtown). Sacramento is not a city like L.A., New York, or even San Francisco. It never will be. And there is nothing wrong with that; in fact, that is what makes Sacramento great for creatives. At From Sac, we want to focus on the small, the overlooked, the beautiful, the real. The world is filled with brilliant writers and artists, and we want to display that brilliance here.

My work has appeared in over 30 publications internationally, and I'm always working on writing and submitting more. I earned an MA in Creative Writing at Sacramento State, where I won three Bazzanella Literary Awards. .
